The mermaid mercantile

Here we go with our first post. After much encouragement I am going to attempt this foreign world of blogging. I have visited many blogs and laughed, cried and become inspired by many of them. I have enjoyed them and hope to give you all something you would enjoy as well.

My first post is on the Mermaid Mercantile, a wonderful artisan flea-market event that happens once a month at a great store on Cedros Street in Solana Beach, California. The store owner, Debi Beard has an incredible eye for over-the-top vintage and whimsical must-haves and the Mercantile was her brain child. She fills the gardens of her store with 25 artists, mostly women that are Moms like myself that make their wares at home. The Mercantile carries a wide variety of vintage and handmade goodies that range from clothing, jewelry, table top trinkets, pillows and linens, kid stuff, yummy treats...the list goes on and on. The store also carries a wide variety of vintage buttons, metal findings, laces, fabric, trims, decoupauge boxes, ephemera paper-scraps, vintage postcards and pictures to make your own handmade treasures. And of course, Debi still carries a wide variety of sea shells. We hope you all can come by and visit us soon!
